Should someone be violent even when imbued with the intention to protect? Should someone even protect with violence? Hadn't the aggressors also been victims at one point? By beating their asses, do I not add to their suffering? Why should multiple aggressors suffer so one victim may be free of suffering?

    • "By beating their asses, do I not add to their suffering?

      No"

      >Why?

"most people only think about what is right by themselves or the Law. This is selfishness and a sin (harmful) to the Soul, Selflessness is a blessing to the Soul."

      >This presupposes way to many things for me to agree, you equate what is right by the Self as being selfish, meanwhile spiritual evolution would have your own sense of self change drastically to the point where the Self expands to represent other people's interests as if they were your own. You use the capital L on the word Law which further assumes a 'Cosmic Law' , which is itself another manifestation of seeing the universe as One.

I don't particularly have a problem with being violent, in fact I have both received and delivered violence, but you have to understand that people's psychological issues will not improve but only worsen if they are on the receiving end of getting their ass whooped. Not to say that there are legal reprecussions outside of the fear of getting jumped by multiple people at once when you try to defend a single victim. I've spoken with both victims and bullies in my life and neither of them ooze a desire to be beaten up. Why is the instinct immediately going to 'protect the victim and play the hero;? The bullies are struggling with their emotions way harder than the victim is.

      So the question still stands,

Why should multiple aggressors suffer so one victim may be free of suffering?

I think you're projecting about the heavy programming thing, it is because I live tenderly with my soul that I have come to the point of wanting to defend others and considering the philosophical underpinnings of this action.

Yes it is true that people alone add to their suffering by their choices, but this is my world also, my fate brings me to act as well. But I feel conflicted, I feel bad for both the aggressor and victim equally. Also, by being violent you add to suffering no matter how you look at it.

  • I am thinking that it depend on what the story is calling for in the moment. If say someone is attacking your loved one, would you not defend that loved one even if you had to use violence to do so? That used to be difficult for me to imagine and now I think I can embrace that choice if I need to.
    • In this world Mary, I find no strangers. Everyone is a loved one, so the question becomes, would you defend a stranger?

What if you misinterpret a situation due to personal biases? What if for them, this type of abuse is a daily ritual? Who are you to come against it? That's my issue to be honest, i am as empathetic towards the victim as I am to the aggressor.

Depending on how overt the abuse is, I would jump.
