Yes, we're talking about the eyemasks some people wear when they go to bed to block out all light. We discovered this by being deep in a cave where it was absolutely black. We noticed after about five minutes that our eyes were wanting to close, that pleasant sleepiness coming on but it was as though the sleepiness only affected the eyelids.
After our so-called discovery and returning to civilization a few days later, we quickly learned that this is a fairly well-known practice. But while in the cave we instantly became aware that there was a certain "high" attendant with this action of keeping the eyes open in this absolute black. It was very pleasant in a mild drug-like way. After about fifteen minutes some people were coming so we re-lit the lanterns and headed out. As we were coming to the section of the cave closer to the entrance so that sunlight could be used to navigate the trail, we noticed how refreshed our brains felt.
What this is doing is tricking the brain into thinking it's time to sleep and to therefore begin the chain of chemical production that starts with serotonin and melatonin, then to pinoline, then to DMT, then to 5-MEO DMT, which is the Door of Brahma, the way in and out of our world. The pineal gland produces 5-MEO DMT in massive amounts upon birth and death, as just an example. Somehow there is a chemical reaction taking place here where sleep - and much more importantly, dream - chemicals are being produced but with open eyes. Those then are used for meditation instead of sleeping and dreaming. This will lead many to open-eyed travel in alternate realms, as many have reported. The blackness itself becomes a living and vibrant presence filled with code. Eyemask meditation along with any alchemy has been the most powerfully rejuvenative and mental clearing method I personally have ever encountered.
There are many makes and types of eyemasks at varying prices. There are only three necessary features. One is that they be contoured to allow you to keep your eyes open in a shaped space for that. The second is that they block out all light, and thirdly that they do both of these things comfortably.
We list a couple here just for examples.
Dream Essentials - Very inexpensive. Used by many and quite liked. Good for lying down or sitting up. Might have to tighten it a little more to completely block out the light. Flexible material.
NapForm - Expensive, about three times the price as the above, but a great fit and soft material.
