  •  This is something I wrote to a new adept level SS trainee as good to stuff to remember when doing targets.

Some stuff that I did not know at first but learned along the way: Don't EVER get discouraged if you are not "close to the target picture or getting the target nailed down" in the reveal. OR if your session is not as accurate as you had hoped in regard to the target.  My total "failures" if you could call them that were perfect in teaching me EVEN MORE about how to access this skill set inside me. Just keep at it. It does get easier. It's a little like using a set of muscles you have not before.
Spontaneously Your style will emerge and you will notice where you are naturally gifted in gathering info and you can literally watch yourself expand into the other styles of receiving info-ie I am really good at structures and identifying them. People were harder for me to sense at first in a target picture but that sense will come later in your training. For others, people may be easy to detect. It's fascinating stuff. You get to see how your mind works from the inside out.
It's like anything you are learning. It's important to swing back and forth in your practice to get a feel of what not to do- its not that we are getting anything wrong per se but often just misinterpreting sensations  and then building a story on that assumption. To be able to tell the difference is huge. So in a way we are learning more about how we sense things.  Write it all down no matter and don't care at all what you get -even if it does not seem to fit or is really odd or common its usually relevant but don't let it run away with you. Keep each category open and unconnected to the others and make it like a fresh canvas. Don't connect the dots. The dots come together later post session.  The target is always so much bigger than you could assume into a story.  We will naturally make assumptions but we can control it and bypass that tendency with some focus.  Remember its not about getting the target as a subject right. It's the information that describes it that is the treasure we are after. Developing those faculties to sense it from your own space now. We want to zero in on the atmosphere, the feeling, the flavors, the colors the emotions the visuals the nature of it. Don't give a thought to defining it or being right. Don't care about that at all- we are here to immerse into pure experience.  Just follow the trail of info that does not commit to a definition. Be an observer. A detective. Be insanely curious like you are a being from deep space and it's all new to you. If you are feeling unconnected to the flow command yourself to plunge into the scene more. Be active interactive. If nothing comes- no prob. move on. Something will come almost out of the darknes like a stream of info and you don't know where its coming from nor care. Be clear, be centered and be full of wonder. These sessions for me are turning into something WILD and very very cool. I can't say anymore. ;)
