I dreamt of a gargoyle last night

I dreamt I walked into a kitchen area that was like a commune with a large table. A gargole sat down to eat and I got excited to see it. I said someone grab him so I can find out what this means. A guy stepped up behind him and grabbed his ears. I said dont do that it might hurt him. Hold his arms. His right ear was fine and stood up but his left ear was floppy. I went to get my phone to call a woman I know and trust to ask her. I kept having the feeling it meant something important like catching a leprechan. I could find my phone and was trying to figure a way to reach her. I said at one point to let him eat because clearly he was hungry. He did not display any kind of negative. And was not ugly. I was getting frustrated because I couldnt find out why he was there. Jason and R Lee - I would very much appretiate your super seer feedback. And again there was not any fear during this dream.

  • Hi, Winnie. I'm by no means an expert, but what I know is gargoyle's are archetypes for guardians of hidden wisdom.

If I were to interpret your dream experience, I'd be to led to believe you're about to be engifted with some pretty huge stuff.

    Please keep us posted.

  • I will. Thank you. .

  • Jackie-

If you do a quick search on gargoyles you get the watered down surface meaning and really a pretty heavily christian interpretation. One that implies the lesson of deamons ever present and tempatation blah blah-  I am intrigued because I really know that it's much older than that. It brings to mind even more old traditions where the demons and the fearsome gods and creatures of the natural world when they heard the buddha'sor great teachers message - they became tame and then protectors of the ones who would spread that message and their fearsome nature was dedicated and meant to protect that mission.

The online dream interpretations also speak of hidden anxieties and secrets and guilts that you may be harboring that need to come to the light or simply cleansed or dispelled or dealt with. And that just does not quite seem to feel right in that interpretation as it relates to you. BUT, it does match September being a month of hidden things revealed to the illumination and moving forward. So, it could be old stuff being revealed and the gargoyle was the garudian. I don't know. What does a Gargoyle mean to you- we often have a personal lexicon of symbols and it will be different from the collective unconscious. TO me that personal lexicon trumps the generic one. Over all it seems to fall into the pattern of confronting dark stuff and revealing it and then moving forward. A good omen I would think. Stay tuned and alert for the information cause it really feels like it could be coming out of nowhere.

  • Oooooops! How did I so blow THAT?!

  • It's also worth mentioning that there were highly advanced and intelligent reptoids/dinoids here literally million of years ago, and basically co-existed on this plane with a proto-human specific to Earth but who were WAY more advanced than any human civilization since. They in fact became the cetaceans. That's an amazing story. If I can remember, I'll see if I can track it down.

Anyway, my point is that they had a caste system, and what became the archetypal imagery of your garden variety gargoyle were among the more educated, if memory serves correctly, in their social strata.

  • Thank you Mary. I found it interesting that I knew it was a male and not ugly at all. I glanced at the internet bs but I knew from the dream this was not a threating situation. And I love that it was in a common area and nobody was scared. The man that held him at my request was not mean about it. The fact that I knew it meant something and wanted to find out what was interesting. And since I could not find my cell phone nor get to one and finally had compassion for the poor thing because he was hungry. And I quit trying to find out "meaning". I just accepted it.
  • I keep sensing it was all of us in this group there.
  • Well, of course! (smile) There isn't anything in any dream that isn't actually the dreamer.

Possibly your 'gargoyle' is wearing a 'skin'.  Nothing in dreams/or so called waking life is what it appears to be.

  • It was nice hearing about your dream over the group call. When you mentioned what you did about the gargoyle having one floppy ear and one upright, it made me recall a study done with wild foxes. When researchers focused on breeding the pups with the most docile temperament, after time their ears began to flop. Perhaps there is a reference to wild vs domestic in your dream?
